Matcha and High Blood Pressure

There are many promising studies using green tea for high blood pressure. Sometimes people forget that matcha is green tea, but it is not an extract, and therefore contains the fiber of the leaf, as well as living enzymes in a whole food state. It is also 10x higher in anti-oxidants that regular green tea.

*Researchers in Taiwan discovered 65% lower risk high blood pressure for men and women who drank at least 20 ounces (600 ml.) of green or oolong tea daily for at least a year. (Yang, 2004)

People who did not drink tea had no protection against developing high blood pressure during this 8-year study.

Recent studies on matcha indicate that the very high content of L-theanine helps put a person in alpha state, vaso-dilates blood vessels and lowers high blood pressure.

Results from 18 studies* on using green tea for high blood pressure show:

Protection during high salt diets
Protection during high sugar diets
Prevention of new atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries from plaque)
Prevention of artery constriction that forces the blood pressure to rise.
Less high blood pressure even with genetic hypertension
Prevention of high blood pressure developing in normal people
Very strong protection against strokes from high blood pressure
